HDR Instructions

Shooting bracketed images for HDR

Shoot RAW
Do not crop in camera. Leave extra space
No people in shots
See email for number of views needed

Manual (preferred approach)

Tripod, no flash, do not move camera position.
Shoot 7 exposures: -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3
Must use a remote shutter release or self timer.
Change shutter speed without moving camera.
Do not change aperture or ISO during a sequence.
As a guide, use F/8 and ISO 400.
Adjust your ISO to avoid very long shutter speeds which can result in camera shake/blur

Examples:

Outdoors

F/8
If the zero setting is 1/200 second, then seven bracketed shots are:
1/25, 1/50, 1/100, 1/200, 1/400, 1/800, 1/1600

Indoors

F/8
ISO 800, 1600 or higher depending on your camera’s capability
If the zero setting is 1/60 second, then seven bracketed shots are:
1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/100, 1/200, 1/400

Above values are used as examples only – use your professional judgement for best ISO and aperture settings

Auto
